About Me

I am an assistant professor in Computer Science at the School of Computing and Information Science (SCIS) at the University of Maine and the director of Privacy Engineering - Regulatory Compliance Lab (PERC_Lab). My research interests are in the areas of information privacy and security, privacy by design, software engineering, and programming comprehension.

Previously, I worked as an assistant professor at Texas Tech University, as a visiting assistant professor at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands and as a visiting faculty at the Institute for Software Research at Carnegie Mellon University, USA.

I did my postdoctoral research at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology under Marie Curie AFR Grant. I also worked as a visiting researcher at the Software Engineering Unit at Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), IRST in Trento, Italy under an NSERC grant in 2010.

​I got my PhD in Computer Science (2013) and MSc. in System Science (2007) at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the University of Ottawa under the supervision of Daniel Amyot and Liam Peyton. I received my undergraduate degree from Amirkabir University of Technology in Iran in 2003.

I also have industry experience where I worked as a Senior Project Manager and Senior Business Analyst at e-Dealer and eHealth Ontario, in Toronto, Canada, from 2011 to 2013.
